If your water pump is starting to fail, you may notice coolant leaks, or even hear a whining noise coming from under the hood. If you think your water pump is starting to fail, replace it as soon as you can.
The water pump in your car is driven by the accessory belt, and if left alone for too long a seized water pump could cause a lot of damage to your engine. It is also a good idea to replace all of the gaskets and pulleys while replacing your water pump.
